NOTE: Starting with the new
iPhone 3G and all new generation iPods released after September 2008 and in
stores now, Apple removed the firewire charging pins rendering some older
accessories and chargers incompatible with the new iPods. Pre Sep. 08 iPods had
both firewire and usb charging connections but new iPods and iPhones have only
the usb charging connections. Usb type chargers are backwards compatible
and work with all new and older iPods and iPhones but firewire type chargers
only work with the pre Sep. 08 iPods and iPhone.
* Star Batteries testing ran an
iPod mini for 24 hours using 4 AA 2400 NiMH rechargeable batteries. Run times
will vary with model and usage.
